Young Dad Killed Protecting Rolex Outside Exclusive London Casino
A man fatally stabbed outside a high-end London casino-hotel might have fallen prey to a failed robbery.
Witnesses reported that Blue Stevens, 24, was knifed in front of his partner while trying to protect his gold Rolex watch from a masked robber, as per various reports in UK media.
Fugitive at Large
Visitors at the Park Tower Knightsbridge reported hearing noise and police sirens around 9:25 pm on Wednesday. A witness reported seeing a man on the ground while paramedics attempted to resuscitate him.
Stevens, a father of one, was declared dead at the location soon after emergency services reached around 9:30 pm, as per London’s Met Police.
Officials stated that no arrests have been carried out, although "multiple lines of investigation are active." A crime scene has been set up, and the area remained cordoned off as of Thursday night, including the Nusr-Et restaurant, owned by the famous Turkish chef known as "Salt Bae."
“We are aware of reports that this incident was a robbery,” said a spokesperson for the Met’s Specialist Crime Command. “Although this is an active line of inquiry, we are keeping an open mind about all possible motives and the exact circumstances are still to be determined.”
Rise in Criminal Activity
The Park Tower, costing £1.5K per night (US$2K), is situated a block away from the famous Harrod’s department store in the affluent Knightsbridge area of London. Residents have indicated a rise in offenders focusing on the region for individuals with valuable possessions. According to a hotel spokesperson, the incident did not include any guests or staff from the hotel.
“We are very saddened by this incident that occurred on the street adjacent to our hotel. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time,” read the statement.
"We can confirm that the incident did not involve any of our hotel guests or staff. We are fully cooperating with the authorities as they investigate this matter.”
According to The Sun, Stevens' partner was one of those who left flowers at the site as a tribute.
